Ringu / The Ring
1998 | Hideo Nakata | 96 mins | Colour | Japanese (subtitles) | 15
Twenty years ago, Hideo Nakata unleashed the curse of the ring, terrifying audiences and reinvigorating the horror genre. A mysterious videotape containing an unsettling collection of images and clips seems to be causing the deaths of young people unfortunate enough to have watched it. As the curse spreads, a reporter faces a race against time to try to break the spell and avoid a visit from a terrifying and vengeful spirit. Famous for its slow-burn tension-cranking and sense of dread, Ringu remains one of the best horror films of all time - it spawned sequels, remakes, several TV series and a whole well-full of merchandise. We’re really excited to give the film a rare outing on the big screen this Halloween - don’t miss it!
