The Colour Room follows the journey of a determined, working class woman, Clarice Cliff, as she breaks the glass ceiling and revolutionises the workplace in the 20th century. This is the fascinating true-life story of the celebrated ceramicist whose vibrant and playful work has become highly collectible.

We’re thrilled that the film’s screenwriter, Claire Peate, is able to join us for this screening. Claire will introduce the film, setting the context, and then we’ll be discussing the origin of the project, Claire’s research and the film’s production in a Q&A afterwards.

About our special guest: Claire Peate is an award winning scriptwriter and novelist. Originally from the midlands she has been living in Cardiff for the last 16 years. Her film The Colour Room won a BAFTA new writing award (BAFTA Rocliffe) and went into production during lockdown. Two of her novels were WHSmiths' Book of the Week and one was nominated for Wales Book of the Year.

Why you should see it: because it's a fascinating story of success against the odds and you’ll learn all about Clarice Cliff
