Nosferatu
Dir. F W Murnau | 1922 | 94 mins | B&W (tinted) | Germany | German inter-titles with English subtitles | PG
Please note: this event is taking place in the gallery not in the cinema
Unable to secure the rights to Bram Stoker's Dracula, Murnau and writer Henrik Galeen instead 'borrowed' liberally from the story of the Transylvanian vampire. In doing so, they brought to life one of the most terrifying creatures to ever stalk the silver screen, the monstrous Count Orlok.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the release of F W Murnau's legendary horror film, we're screening it in the gallery at Penarth Pier Pavilion, with a live piano accompaniment. Listen out for themes from the history of cinema in a soundtrack compiled just for this special event!
Why you should see it: because it's one of the greatest films of all time
