The Long Goodbye
Dir. Robert Altman | 1973 | 112 mins | Colour | USA | English | 18
We will continue to wear masks at the front desk and while ushering, and encourage you to do the same to protect others in the small cinema space.
Private investigator Philip Marlowe (Elliott Gould) helps a friend out of a jam, but in doing so gets implicated in his wife's murder. Altman's gritty 1970s take on film noir is one of the great detective dramas of the decade... even though it takes a thoroughly different approach to the genre. Fabulous.
Why you should see it: because Elliott Gould makes a fascinating, schlubby Philip Marlowe.
