The Birds
Dir. Alfred Hitchcock | 1963 | 119 mins | Colour | USA | English | 15 | F-Rated
Alfred Hitchcock's avian horror is a film we've been meaning to show for a long time, and what better occasion than on the 60th anniversary of its premiere? We're thrilled to welcome Prof. Neil Badmington (Cardiff University) back to Penarth Pier. He'll introduce the film, and then we'll have a Q&A afterwards to discuss the production, themes and legacy of The Birds.
A wealthy San Francisco socialite (Tippi Hedren) pursues a potential boyfriend (Rod Taylor) to a small Northern California town in a thriller that takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people.
Why you should see it: because it’s been a while since we had a Hitchcock night, and they're always good
